The Male wrestling season has started off strong, competing in competitions like the Richmond Invitationals on December 12-13. In total Jamestown scored 42 points in the Richmond Invitationals competition, with Harold Dahl getting 2nd place in the 106lbs division and Charles Patterson getting 8th place in the 175lbs division. The Male wrestling team feels excited and hopeful for this season with many of them optimistic about going to states this year.

Wrestling is not as easy as it looks
Theoren Moore has been wrestling for 2 years and enjoys it saying, “It’s a lot if fun, and it’s a good way to condition.” but, Theoren Moore also says that wrestling is a very demanding sport, “We condition, run, bear crawl, push-ups. It’s a lot of, like, physical and demanding work. It’s not an easy sport. And I think that if you’re gonna come out and do the sport, you need to like have a mindset that you’re gonna like to stick with…because if not you’re do well.” Even though wrestling is a very demanding sport, all of them would agree that it’s a fun sport.

Thinking about Wrestling
Many new people have joined the male wrestling team this year. Boone Todd and Alex Mucci are both new to wrestling, only started wrestling in the pre-season which was about 3 months ago [4 months now]. Each of them pushes each other to get better, “You learn a bunch of stuff. It’s like a family here, like there are no strangers. Everyone laughs at each other… you meet a lot of people; you make a lot of friends. The meets for wrestling are so fun. It’s like a huge social event. It’s not worrying at all. It’s fun, overall” said Mucci. The male wrestling team has bonded well together and hopefully this bond will continue throughout the season.

Hopes for the future
The male wrestling without a doubt is growing, working hard, and excited about this season.
