As the school year comes to a close and we say our goodbyes, most of us are ready to set school aside and lose ourselves in the adventure of summer, but not everyone is.
Finishing the year stronger than ever, The Talon Times is optimistic for what’s next. After hosting an administrative meeting that reviewed this year’s growth and success, the team has also set future plans into motion. Adaptations to both the Constitution and our Personnel Code of Conduct are strengthening the organization from within. We are also exploring a transition to a more effective self-hosting platform, along with expanding the range of topics we cover—such as weather and other areas of interest. These additions aren’t just changes; they are the foundation that will support our continued growth.
Through conversations with the leadership of The Talon Times, one idea became clear; we are discovering our purpose. Of course, The Talon Times prides itself on reporting news while furthering awareness schoolwide, our mission goes further than that. If this next chapter could be defined in one word, it would be “engagement.” That is what will guide us as we grow both broader in reach and deeper in impact.
To the average reader, this means given more than what’s expected. It translated to be given the truth, the truth that sees many sides and offers the complexity behind it. We want you to read beyond what’s given on a quick post on social media or a passing glance at a poster. Think of our work not as a requirement, but as an opportunity, like choosing dessert after a meal. It’s optional, but it adds something meaningful to the experience. Our goal is to go deeper into stories, offering insight and perspective beyond the surface.
For those within The Talon Times, this next step brings greater responsibility and activity. We aim to build a reputation where people seek us out, trust us, and feel confident sharing their stories. Every story is a gift to us, not because of its size or performance, but because of its value to the community. Therefore, it’s our duty to recognize and make known those values.
And to everyone else, we are coming to you in a good way! If you haven’t subscribed, then we invite your commitment. If you don’t care to read our works, then care to share your stories. If you are a leader, a business owner, or someone who feels this may not matter to you, think again—we want to tell your stories too and find ways to collaborate.
To the loud and large clubs of the school, we hear you. We are your microphone to the quieter corners of our community; your voice matters just as much. To everyone, this means turning the page while anticipating the unexpected. This is our commitment to you, and we hope, in return, you will make one for us.
Merry end of school to all.

Incredible work, Dristan. I love the style you write in and how engaging it is. You make me feel as if I’m being told a story, not a boring old report.
I appreciate that, but I’m always reminded that words are but a part of a newspaper. Incredible work to our strength as a team, even though I didn’t see it from the beginning, I see how its taking shape now. From the first day, to past the last, the stories and work we have done are continuing to grow this group into something none of us may expect. Can’t wait to see it next year y’all.
(P.S. I know we don’t have funds to always be doing stuff like we did for the celebration, but if you want to go fishing for new recruits, especially males, would love to have that free food out… just consider.)
