“You can’t put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get.” – Michael Phelps

Swimming is one of the biggest sports worldwide, and it’s also part of the Summer Olympics. For those unaware, swimming is considered an individual sport in which your success doesn’t depend on others in the water with you. On the other hand, the Jamestown swimming team makes it seem like a team sport, rather than an individual sport. Eliza Walk, a freshman at Jamestown, is part of the swimming team. This is her first-year swimming for Jamestown, but she’s swam competitively for 7 years, “I’ve been… in the water… as long as I can remember.” – Eliza Walk.
Every morning, the swimming teams meet at the WISC from 5:00-6:00 a.m., and some swimmers must get up at 4:00 a.m. to get ready for that morning’s practice. Once they are in the pool at 5:00, they start swimming lap after lap, improving their endurance, technique, and preparing for any upcoming competition.
Being part of the Jamestown swim team requires dedication and practice. Still, at the end of every practice, some of the swimmers go together to get Chick-fil-A, and since they go every morning, Chick-fil-A staff know some of them by name. As Eliza Walk would put it, “Chick-fil-A basically knows us all.”
The Talon Times supports all of our Jamestown sports and wish them all the best, good luck eagles!
