We Want You! The Talon Times needs writers, join our amazing team!

Mamma Mia, like any other play, requires lots of effort from those involved, but can also be very fun, and be an amazing experience for those involved. Many of the members we talked to, despite being early in production, had a lot of things to say about the good times they had during the play. “My favorite memory was learning the choreography for the song ‘Lay All Your Love on Me … it was a good time.” -Bradley Pankratz.

Play production isn’t all fun and games, though. The main characters are required to practice 3-5 days a week until 5:30 at the beginning of the play, but later, all members of the play are required to practice from 2-5:30, which is a significant commitment. As a musical, you can expect, well, musicians. According to Bradley, they have 2-3 pianists (which is a lot for most musicals). That said, everybody we talked with had high hopes for Mamma Mia, and were happy to be in the play. Production is still in the early stages, so you can expect more on this story.

Now, what is Mamma Mia even about?

Mamma Mia is a musical about a woman named Sophie who is getting married to her fiancé, Skye, but she has a problem. She doesn’t know who her father is. (Can’t have a good play without a good problem!) So, she invites the three people she thinks may be her father to her wedding. Plus, the entire show is told through amazing music from the band ‘ABBA’. If you want to know more, you’ll have to see the play when it releases.

We asked members of the play to give advice to aspiring thespians, and here is some of what they said:

“[Try] taking an acting class in high school, [and] learning your lines,” -Bradley Pankratz

“Don’t be afraid to audition, and be confident, but not too confident.” -Lucas Mideona

Check back next month for an update on production.
